thursday - what i ate today

Here is a little peak into what I ate today:

For breakfast I decided to have two almost perfectly ripened bananas (we had none that were super spotty). What I like to do for my stomach is eat one slowly, wait until I feel a little hungry again then eat the next one.

For lunch I had these awesome little things called ... spuds! Yes, potatoes, again. So addictive. Today I made the exact same lunch that I had the other day. Home fries! Mmm mmm, good. Take a look at these babies and just try to imagine how yummy they are (No, actually you should try making some! I like to cut the potatoes into wedge-like chunks and boil for about 5 minutes to get them softer and full of moisture, load on desired seasoning, and put them in the oven for 15-20 minutes, turning them half way and they should be perfect!). This time I put a little bit of sugar, cumin and garlic powder and they were sweet and rich. (P.S. There's NO oil and MINIMAL salt on these home fries. The only salt is in the spices.) The dipping sauce is yet again, vegenaise and mustard. The only thing I dont like about this meal is that the dipping sauce is a little high in fat because of the vegenaise, I think it's something like 8 or 9 grams per serving, which is a tablespoon. If you were eating 80% carbs, 10% fat, 10% protein - you probably wouldn't want to eat the veganaise too often, or it would be hard to stay under your fat goal.

For a snack before supper, I decided to make myself a yummy fruit smoothie. I like to mix it up every now and then so today I decided to go with some cherries, strawberries and a banana, blended together with pineapple juice. So delicious!

Finally, for supper I had a serving and a half of "Tinkyada" brown rice pasta with falafel and tomato basil pasta sauce. The only thing I was missing was my "Daiya" cheese. Last minute, I thought it'd be great to have some veggies in my pasta, so I cut up some red onion and baby peppers and fries the for a few minutes and put them in my pasta. So yummy!

Finally, after supper I had a nice relaxing tea. This one is "Tetly, Vanilla Chai" I really recommend trying it. Very yummy and soothing. Definitely one of my favorites!

vegan for three weeks

Hi! As of today, I have been vegan for three weeks! I can't believe how great I feel, wow. If I had known it would be this awesome, I would have transitioned to veganism years ago. Anyway, the past few days have been very yummy food wise. It's a really good thing that I love potatoes because my mom loves the way I cook them so she demands them almost every night. Haha. I have lost a total of 8 lbs so far though I've probably lost a little more, I haven't weighed myself since Friday.

My boyfriend and I went for a couple of walks around a beautiful park in the city that I live in. It's called "O'dell Park". I've been going there since I was a little girl with my father. I used to love it there so much because they took care of the trails and there were fences keeping the wildlife safe. To be honest, I'm not sure what happened to all the deer that used to live there, because I haven't seen a deer there in years. It used to be so lively in the 90s, everybody loved going there to feed carrots to the deer and bread crumbs to the ducks. It's kind of just there now, just somewhere to walk in nature. Which is still great, I guess, it's just not the same. Y'know? I think the boyfriend and I are heading back to the gym soon, exercise will definitely help my weight come off.

So, I've been binge watching Freelee the Banan Girl on Youtube. I love her personality. Some people think she's leaching fame off of other Youtubers, but I don't think she is. I know she's just trying to get her message out there about how important veganism is. She chooses these famous Youtubers that have a bunch of followers so that the fans will come to the video and watch and get the information, she's actually super smart. She's definitely one of my idols!

Only 19 days until spring! <3 And here are some pictures of my home fry lunch. :)

vegan?

Thanks to Freelee the Banana Girl and Gary Yourofsky, I am now, as of February 9th, vegan!! I am very excited about this lifestyle change. It's been about two and a half weeks and I feel so amazing already. My acid reflux is better, same with my acne and my skin is smoother. Plus, I've lost 7.5 lbs. It's been way more than worth it. It's been so long since I've posted, but I am going to start back up and blog during my vegan journey and my weight loss journey. I want to post my meals and what I will be eating to show how much and how awesome you can eat being vegan.

Weight Gain: At my lowest, in grade 12 (about 3 years ago), I was 137 lbs. Since this time, I've gained about 90 lbs and my highest is 231 lbs... it's been very hard on my body and having stretch marks for the first time devastated me, having been a thinner person my entire life. It's now my ultimate goal to lose the 90 lbs that I've gained and get back to a healthy weight and life. From my weight gain, I've experienced: acid reflux, shortness of breath, IBS, acne, depression and stretch marks. A big cause of this weight gain was due to the fact that I was in an emotionally abusive relationship, causing pretty bad depression. I have recovered quite a bit from this and feel very happy and positive again. I am ready to change my life for the better and I think blogging will help me stay on track.

My Inspiration: My main inspiration would be fashion and saving the animals. When I was thinner I would wear anything I wanted. I love vintage clothing and it is very hard to find cute vintage clothing at thrift stores when you are a size 16. I used to love going thrifting with my mother, but now that I've gained the weight, I barely ever go. I would love to lose the weight and show you guys all my cute vintage clothing items. Saving the animals is a huge part of me going vegan. I read most of the book "Skinny Bitch" and I am still reading the rest. It has so much useful and inspirational advice in it. I would highly recommend reading it. It has turned so many people vegan. ;) Also, go on Youtube and watch some of "Freelee the Banana Girl", she has been vegan for a long time and is lean and beautiful. She has some great informative videos.

Here is a vegan dinner I made. It is baked potatoes, with simulated bacon bits and Daiya cheese, meatless "pork bites", and some lovely carrots.

kitties & green cardigans

Today, I had a mini photo shoot with one of my three awesome kitties, Bella. Isn't she adorable? In these pictures, I am wearing my favorite green/yellow American Eagle cardigan & my AE crop tee. I got them on sale for 40% off boxing week. <3

Hey there. ^.^

Bella and Me.

You can't see me!

my take on Katie's NYC look

I really enjoyed this super cute look sported by Katie Holmes in NYC. So, I decided to do my take on her look from what I could find in my own closet. Since my chiffon dress is already belted around the waist, I used the purse to bring in the brown.

My Look:
1. Dress - Lucy Love
2. Purse - Spring
3. Cardigan, Tights & Shoes - Walmart :D
